Polymax® Flooring: It’s not just for the birds

PolyMax Poultry FlooringAs you may already know, FarmTek was established by farmers for farmers. We planted our roots in the poultry industry in 1979, and in the years since, we have expanded our product line to include livestock management supplies for multiple animal breeds, as well as offering nearly every agricultural product under the sun. However, with our special connection to the poultry industry, we strive to keep our line of poultry-supply products as an industry leader, and our PolyMax Poultry Flooring is an excellent example of our industry know-how. However, our PolyMax flooring is useful for many other things besides poultry house flooring, so let’s take a look at some of the other uses that our customers have found.

Dog Kennel Flooring

PolyMax Flooring in dog kennelAnyone who owns a dog knows that they can destroy almost anything, and with multiple dogs, nothing can be considered safe. However, the one thing that has been found to withstand even the strongest of dogs is our PolyMax Poultry Flooring, which makes an excellent choice for kennel flooring. With the polypropylene coating that inhibits bacteria growth and 7/8 inch square openings that allow for rain, snow, urine and feces to drop safely below, our PolyMax flooring has proven to be equally as beneficial for raising dogs as it is for chickens. Brenda Martin, a breeder of Labradors, Boxers and Bulldogs, recently purchased our PolyMax flooring for use in her kennels, and she has been pleased with the results. “When it snows or rains, the precipitation goes right down the holes and keeps the puppies’ feet dry” says Martin. She continued by stating, “it’s also strong enough to hold the larger dogs and it easily supports my weight as well.” Combining bio-security and ease of use, our PolyMax flooring makes a great option for those looking to keep their dogs happy and healthy, and how could you not want the best of everything for puppies?

Greenhouse Benches

greenhouse benchOur PolyMax flooring can be used in greenhouse growing applications as well. For those looking for a custom sized or do-it-yourself greenhouse bench, our PolyMax Poultry Flooring makes an ideal bench top. These panels are available in an overlapping style, which creates a strong, smooth connection when sizes greater than 2 feet wide by 4 feet long are required. The polypropylene coating ensures that these bench tops will remain free of rust, and their sturdy build prevents bench tops from sagging and bending under the weight of larger plants. For those looking for a complete solution, we offer PolyMax Bench Systems, which include a frame made of triple-galvanized steel and our indestructible PolyMax flooring panels in pre-determined sizes. However, if you are looking for a simple do-it-yourself solution, you can purchase the PolyMax flooring separately, and either build your own frame or place the flooring directly onto cinder blocks for a simple greenhouse bench.

Attic/Loft Flooring

For additional safety around your home or business, our PolyMax Poultry Flooring can also be used for attic or loft flooring. Placing the PolyMax flooring on the joists directly above insulation creates an additional space for storage, and makes your attic a safer place. Our PolyMax flooring is strong and sturdy and will not bend or break under the weight of heavy objects or human weight, which allows for organized storage and easy movement throughout your attic. With PolyMax Poultry Flooring installed in your attic, if insulation removal or repair is ever needed, removing these plastic grates is much easier than removing wood or solid plastic materials. The grid design of the PolyMax also allows for proper air flow to the insulation below.  Insulation that is trapped beneath a solid material can heat up and cool down improperly, which will reduce the energy efficiency of your home or business and can cause structural problems, such as ice build-up on the roof during winter. PolyMax flooring is a great alternative to high priced, specialty attic flooring, and with its easily customizable nature you can create the ideal solution for you.

Roof Rack’s for Vehicles

While our PolyMax flooring is great to use for work, it can also be used for play. With its lightweight yet strong design, many outdoor enthusiasts have discovered that our PolyMax flooring makes an ideal roof rack for their off-road vehicles. The strong frame creates a perfect base, and gives piece of mind when strapping tools and equipment to the roof. The grid design is also highly sought after, as it gives nearly unlimited options when strapping down and securing equipment. For those looking for a cost-effective roof rack, our PolyMax flooring is an excellent choice. You’re not required to be a die-hard off-roading fan to use this material for a roof rack, for those that have a large family and a small car, a custom built roof rack can prove to be an excellent space saving investment for your next family vacation.

There are many more uses for our PolyMax Poultry Flooring than just what comes to mind. While this flooring is ideal for use in chicken coops, it also makes an excellent match for many other jobs. Whether you need more storage space in your attic, are looking for a cost effective greenhouse bench or want to add some storage space to your vehicle, our PolyMax Poultry Flooring is a great option.

Bought several back when they were under $8 each. Some were modified into resting platforms for dogs at the local shelter (added pvc pipe “feet”). They are still in use there. I kept a couple for use at my veterinary practice to elevate and support the prolapsed uterus of a cow to clean it and to keep it clean while returning it to the proper position. I came to this site just to see if this product was still available for the shelter to purchase.

CanPolymax® Flooring be used for rabbit flooring rabbit.org/treating-sore-hocks/

    • We don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be. The PolyMax will help to reduce the risk of disease and help increase cage sanitation overall. It would very likely be a great use for rabbit flooring.
