Announcing Tech Center East! FarmTek’s Latest in Educational Resources

NFT Channels

Some of you who have followed our blogs for a while may have seen pictures or read about the many opportunities that we have to offer our customers. We organize workshops, seminars, webinars and more, all designed to inform and educate our communities and customers about exciting topics in the agricultural community. Our most popular topics include how to grow fodder, CEA (controlled-environment agriculture) techniques, hydroponic growing and greenhouse growing. Until now, all of our seminars and workshops have been held at our Dyersville, IA location, equipped with our CEA Technology Center greenhouse, as well as one of our Hercules Truss Arch Buildings where we manufacture many buildings for our affiliate company, ClearSpan Fabric Structures.

Learning about Tech East

Since the majority of these great events happen in Iowa, many customers are limited in their ability to attend. If you don’t know, FarmTek’s corporate headquarters are located in South Windsor, CT and until recently, our location here has been mostly related to the business and administrative parts of the company. But now, we are excited to announce that we, too, will now have an instructional and educational facility open to the public. FarmTek is proud to present Tech Center East, on schedule to make its opening debut November 6-8, 2013!

Tech Center East was designed to deliver the same sort of hands-on experience as our Technology Center in Iowa. With full-sized, working equipment, visitors will see first-hand aquaponics systems, learn how to grow fodder, hydroponic vegetables and more! Tech Center East showcases some of our latest products, such as our Vertical Lettuce Systems, GT50 and GT80 NFT channels, new grow lighting, evaporative cooling systems and more! We are very excited to have converted our upstairs warehouse space into a large growing area, equipped with everything visitors will need to learn how they can get started with hydroponics. In addition to being an educational center for visitor, Tech Center East will be producing vegetables including lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and more, all for purchase by employees and the community! That’s one benefit we are all especially looking forward to here in the office!

Hydroponic Channels

To kick off Tech Center East, we will be holding our first CEA School November 6-8, 2013. This is an opportunity for attendees to learn about controlled environment agriculture and see what it takes to get started on their own. Cost of attendance is $495, which includes lodging, and anyone who attends and then decides to purchase a system will receive that $495 off their order! The CEA School will be led by our Iowa greenhouse manager, Sam Shroyer, who has lots of experience with hydroponic growing and greenhouse production. He will give participants all the information they need to begin their own adventure in hydroponics and CEA.

In the coming weeks, keep an eye open for more updates on Tech Center East. We are working on the last finishing touches and are excited to unveil our latest project come November. If you’re local, or even if you’re not, we’d love to have you stop by! Come see what we’re growing and maybe learn about how you can get growing, too!
